n8n / Make.com Automation Engineer (Long-term role)

Apply Now
I run an AI automation agency. We build automation systems for agencies - CRM workflows, lead routing, AI-powered content generation, client onboarding sequences, and operational processes that eliminate manual work. We're not looking for someone to connect two apps with Zapier. We need an engineer who can architect complex, multi-step automation systems that integrate APIs, handle edge cases, and scale without breaking. The Role You'll be the person who turns "we need this automated" into a working system. You'll design, build, and maintain automation workflows that directly impact our clients' revenue and operations. This is potentially a full-time, long-term position. We want someone who grows with us, not a freelancer looking for a quick project. What You'll Build: End-to-end automation workflows using n8n, Make, or similar platforms API integrations between CRMs (Close, HubSpot, Airtable), email platforms, databases, and third-party tools AI-powered automations using OpenAI, Claude, and other LLM APIs Data pipelines for lead enrichment, scoring, and routing Webhook receivers and event-driven workflows Error handling, retry logic, and monitoring systems What You'll Maintain: Audit existing workflows for bottlenecks and failure points Reduce automation run times and API costs Set up alerting and monitoring dashboards Maintain 99%+ uptime across all critical automations Document everything with clear SOPs and flowcharts Required Skills n8n or Make - You've built complex workflows, not just simple two-step automations API Integration - You understand REST APIs, authentication methods, webhooks, and can read API documentation Python or JavaScript - You can write custom code nodes when the no-code solution isn't enough Database Knowledge - SQL, Airtable, or similar. You can query, filter, and manipulate data AI/LLM APIs - Experience integrating OpenAI, Claude, or similar into workflows Error Handling - You think about what happens when things break, not just when they work Nice to Have Experience with Close, HubSpot, or similar CRMs Familiarity with Slack API, Google APIs, email platforms Experience building client-facing automations (not just internal tools) Background in agency or B2B services How You'll Work For now: Part-time, less than 20 hours/week (This can easily change based on your skill, growth, and output) Remote - work from anywhere with reliable internet Async-first with some overlap for standups and client calls Daily Slack check-ins on what you're working on Weekly reporting on automations built, optimized, and any blockers To Apply Send your proposal with: Portfolio link or examples - Show me 2-3 automations you've built. Screenshots, Loom walkthroughs, or descriptions of the workflow logic. I want to see complexity, not quantity. Your experience with n8n or Make - How long have you used it? What's the most complex workflow you've built? Start your proposal with "AUTOMATE" so I know you read this. Proposals that don't follow these instructions will be skipped. If you can't follow application instructions, you can't follow automation specs.
