This position is based in Plano, TX. Who We’re Looking For Toyota Financial Services (TFS) Technology team is looking for a highly motivated person to fill the role of Consultant, Metadata Strategy & Data Cataloging. This role primarily serves as a Technology expert with deep expertise in Data Catalog & Metadata Specialist. It involves developing and maintaining the Metadata Management Strategy and Roadmap to drive long-term initiatives, align with enterprise data objectives, and improve data transparency, governance, and usability. What You’ll Be Doing • Develop and manage the enterprise data catalog to ensure data is accurately described, classified, and accessible. • Define metadata standards and policies in collaboration with data governance teams. • Implement metadata strategy aligned with enterprise data goals and maintain practices that enhance discoverability and usability. • Oversee metadata initiatives to ensure consistency, governance, and integration across systems. • Capture and manage technical metadata from diverse sources; curate data assets for usability. • Maintain taxonomy, classification schemes, and metadata repository models for business and technical users. • Monitor metadata tools and ensure quality, consistency, and accuracy across platforms. • Support data lineage, traceability, and compliance efforts. • Collaborate with data stewards, IT, analytics, and business teams to align metadata with decision-making needs. • Train end users on metadata tools and best practices; assess evolving metadata needs. • Define and report on KPIs and KRIs to evaluate metadata process effectiveness. What You Bring • At least 8 years of experience in Data Governance and Data Enablement with a focus on metadata management and Data Cataloging. • Proven experience guiding and motivating cross-functional teams to build consensus among diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership • Hands-on experience with enterprise metadata management and data cataloging tools such as Collibra, Informatica CDGC or Alation. • Proven experience in designing and developing Tableau dashboards to enable enterprise-level scorecards. • Proficiency in database concepts, SQL, and scripting languages like Python for data manipulation and automation. • Knowledge of metadata standards (e.g., Dublin Core, RDF) and data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK). • Familiarity with data privacy and security regulations, such as GDPR and CCPA. • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to identify and resolve complex metadata-related issues. Added Bonus If You Have • Experience working to analyze data within data platforms like Snowflake, RDS, Postgress, Mongo, Dynamo Databases etc. • Strong understanding of Data Governance, Data Management principles and Data Stewardship. • Deep understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, data lake and data architecture principles. • Knowledge of any Data Modeling tools like Erwin Data Modeler, ER/Studio.
